Halloween

Halloween - my favorite holiday of the year, not to mention that fall in general is my favorite time of the year.  So many activities to do during the week of Halloween!  Carving pumpkins is always a must.  This year the kids gutted the pumpkins, and Ethan was not thrilled with the texture!

The final results - drawn exclusively by the kids, carved by mom and dad.

Olivia is becoming quite the cake decorator with classes at JoAnn Fabrics.  Here is her "spooky spiderweb cake".  We love eating the results!

We attended the Litchfield Halloween parade this year.  I do love a small town parade!

Grandpa throwing candy from the Veiled Profit float.  He saved four handfuls of chocolate for the kids.  The surrounding kids loved it, too!

The kids ready for the Illini Country Club Halloween Party.  Ethan is Superman and Olivia is a "Cutie Hootie Owl".

Pumpkin bowling - a tradition at the Halloween party.

The kids and their balloon animals (octopus and Jack Skellington).

Going on the hayride through the Illini haunted cemetery (with friend Ayla).  Both kids were not sure about this, but they did it and it didn't seem to scar them too badly!

Olivia modeling her new "glasses".

Halloween night!  This was a soggy and cold Halloween - heavy drizzle all night long mixed with cold made for a small turnout of trick or treaters at our house.  However, Olivia, Ethan and friends made their way through the neighborhood with no problem and came home with very full goodie bags.

My favorite tradition of Halloween - the kids come home from trick or treating, dump their candy bags on the floor, and eat all the candy they want (we begin to ration the next day) while we watch "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".
