Last Summer on Earth Concert
Joe and I traveled to Nashville TN one weekend (with no kids - thanks grammy!) to attend the "Last Summer on Earth" concert tour with Guster, Ben Folds Five, and Barenaked Ladies. We have pretty much been following all of these bands for well over a decade now. On our way there, we made a quick detour through Metropolis to see the "famous" Superman statue. All I will say is, if you happen to drive by Metropolis, make the 2 mile detour to see the statue. But do NOT make a special trip to see the statue as it is not worth the hassle and time!
Outside the Superman museum.
Let's start this concert off right....backstage passes to meet Barenaked Ladies (again)! We have met them a few times already - backstage passes at a St. Louis show and two vacations on a BNL cruise. So, I'm sure that they remember us ;)
Front row center - yes, that is how much Joe and I love these bands! The opener was Boothby Graffoe - and he was hilarious! He is joined by BNL on this song.
Next up was Guster, joined by ex-band member Joe for this song.
Ben Folds Five (yes, there are only 3 members in the band) performed next. They received a huge ovation since Ben Folds lives in Nashville.
And the main event - Barenaked Ladies! Excellent show! Plus the venue was the nicest concert venue we have ever been to - if you ever have a chance to see a concert at Fontanel in Nashville TN it is worth the trip! It is an outdoor setting on Barbara Mandrel's estate, and it is literally in the middle of an old growth forest. Absolutely beautiful and nicely sized for only 4500 people. Unfortunately, we had no time to explore Nashville at all so we will need to make another trip there in the future.
Fun "extra" photos from the backstage passes. Joe brought the kids' BNL Snacktime book for the band to sign. Kevin (first photo, he does everything - piano, guitar, odd assortment of instruments) illustrated the book and he personalized it for Ethan and Olivia. What a great gesture! The remaining photos (in order) are Jim (bass player), Tyler (drummer), and Ed (lead singer and lead guitar).

And finally, perks of front row seats, Joe received Ed's set list plus two of Ed's guitar picks.
