Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
We attended the Disney Halloween party during our vacation. This event was by far my favorite of the entire vacation. The park is closed from 7p-midnight to the public, only a relatively small group of ticketed guests are allowed into the park to celebrate Halloween. All of the rides remain open (no lines!!), there are 2 wonderful parades, fireworks, 2 excellent villain shows in front of the castle, and the park is completely decorated and lighted for Halloween. And did I mention NO LINES?
Here are Medusa (aka Olivia) and Spiderman (aka Ethan) arriving at the Magic Kingdom for Halloween. Note the dreary sky.
The rain did not stop us! Here are the kids posing in Minnie Mouse's house in the Toon Town Fair section of the park. They were a bit disappointed to have to hide their costumes under the rain ponchos.
Ah, the rain stopped after about an hour. And we were able to enjoy the rest of the Halloween party with cooler temperatures (heat indexes were crazy the entire vacation) and even smaller crowds.
I had to ride the teacups at least once on the vacation! I think we talked this ride up to Olivia too much, and she refused to go on it.
Immediately following the first parade was the first villain show. The castle looked so different in the "spooky" lights. This show was great, namely because Joe and I love the villains in the movies. Cruella DeVille (in the middle) was really good - you could tell she enjoyed her role!
Olivia meeting Cinderella's evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and the evil stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella. This group was our favorite character encounter - Drizella was completely in character and was heckling the crowd while talking just like her movie character - right down to the way she wiped her nose every once in awhile. When Olivia told Anastasia that she was her favorite of the two sisters, Drizella stomped off the stage and pouted in a corner. Olivia had to go over to her and say something nice to her (that she liked her hairbow) to get Drizella to return to the stage. This was the one time we didn't mind waiting in line so we could watch their "show".
Ethan didn't last very long after the parade. He stayed in this position for the rest of the night. Well, except for when we took him out to go on the Haunted Mansion ride (Olivia did great!) and to pose with a few more characters.
After the fireworks, the park seemed to just about empty out. We were on our way out of the park, when we noticed all of the villains lined up in front of the castle posing for pictures, and there were NO lines! Here we are with Joe's favorite villain, Jafar from the movie Aladdin.
