Cruising Alaska Disney Style

After our time in Vancouver, we (the family plus Kim and Brett) boarded the Disney Wonder for a 7 night Alaska cruise. It was a fantastic cruise. Never mind that this was the first cruise in a decade that I did not develop motion sickness, but Disney had every detail and every minute of every day perfectly planned. The kids were busy in the Oceaneer Club or Lab (fantastic places that "ban" adults and had the kids begging to go there whenever they had a down moment) or in the Mickey Pool (with a waterslide and splash park) or the Goofy Pool (with a jumbo TV continuously showing Disney movies). The adults stayed busy relaxing, although there were adult activities at every hour to pick from as well. This blog will show what we did ON the boat. Another blog will show our time spent in the 3 port stops.
I took way too many pictures to post them all, but the following are a few that capture how we spent our time. There were many character photos every day, each time the character would have on a different outfit. I only included a very small percentage of those pictures, including great napkin hats (made by our fantastic waiters Art and Sophie) at our character breakfast. We cruised to the Tracy Arm glacier for a beautiful (but cold - see the kids bundled up on deck) afternoon of admiring the wild Alaska landscape. There were so many Disney shows - the All Aboard show when we left Vancouver, the Golden Mickeys (the kids were interviewed while on the red carpet), Toy Story, Dreams, and Friendship Rocks (a dance show that all of the kids created). We rotated between 3 restaurants for dinner and I included a photo from Animator's Palate, a place that started black and white and became color by the end of the meal (thanks to Sorcerer Mickey's appearance!). We were greeted by a different towel origami each night after our dinner and show thanks to our room attendant Dom.
And last but not least, we celebrated 2 birthdays on the cruise. Olivia was the birthday princess with her large, yet way too rich tasting, birthday cake and song from the waiters. She wore her birthday button all day and loved the extra attention from the crew. And Joe received a special, although much smaller, treat than Olivia for his birthday on the last day of the cruise.
