It's Official...
It's official...Joe is now a board certified radiologist, Ethan has been baptised into the Catholic Church, and Kate is going crazy by the move to Iowa! What a busy 2 weeks it has been! First off, Joe went to Kentucky recently to take his oral boards for radiology. Basically, the tester will put a random film/xray on the screen and Joe has to make the diagnosis and sound smart doing so (that last one was tricky for him). He passed, not that there was any doubt in my mind. He is truly a radiologist now, but as we know, he feels the need to continue on to be a neuroradiologist. One more year, one more year, one more year....
We had Ethan baptised last Saturday. We wanted to do this while still in Springfield for 2 reasons - we wanted him baptised in the same church that Olivia was, and we wanted him to be little enough to still fit into the baptismal gown that both Kate and Olivia wore. So, as Olivia put it and as you'll see in the upcoming pictures, Ethan "looks like a princess" in his "dress". We were able to have all of the grandparents and great-grandparents attend, which was wonderful that the greats were able to meet Ethan prior to our move.
And speaking of the move, we leave for Iowa City on June 24, so this will be the last blog for awhile. Things are getting too crazy around here with packing, cleaning, and finalizing details. Thankfully now that Joe's test is over he is able to help with the move. Olivia has been a trooper with this - it hasn't seemed to faze her a bit thus far. She has been doing great with everything from the move to being a great big sister to Ethan.
Is it ever too early to start reading to children?
First tub bath now that the umbilical cord has fallen off. He is night and day from Olivia, as Ethan loves his bath and does not fuss, but at 1 month of age Olivia screamed as if she were being tortured. As you can see in this picture, Ethan has no problem getting enough to eat. At his 1 month check he weighed 10lbs 1 oz, and was 21.5 inches long! That is quite a growth spurt!
The family ready for the baptism!
Olivia and Ethan with Great Grandpa Ed (Kate's maternal grandpa). It was quite the effort to convince him to hold Ethan - so worried that he would break him.
Olivia and Ethan with Great Grandma Mildred (Kate's paternal grandma). She was wonderful with both kids - especially at entertaining/wearing out Olivia with long walks after the baptism.
Olivia and Ethan with Great Granparents Boyd and Phyllis (Joe's maternal grandparents).
