Legoland
After our stay in San Diego, we traveled north to Carlsbad to visit Legoland. As it was described to me by a friend, Legoland is "a park to walk around and look at structures made out of Legos, and then go on rides to look at more Lego figures". She was exactly right.
We started our day in Miniland USA on the Coast Cruise. Here is a picture of the dinosaurs on the boat ride. For those who have never been to Legoland, keep in mind that every "statue" you see is made out of Legos.
The kids were thrilled to meet Bob the Builder, although they wondered why he wasn't made out of Legos since we had explained to them that everything at this park would be!
This was by far one of the most amazing water areas we have ever seen in a park. This is the Soak-n-Sail area in Pirate Shores. There are 2 buckets on top of the pirate ship (in this picture one has tipped) that fill with water and will randomly tip onto the ship! It was quite a sight! Olivia LOVED this attraction, although it overwhelmed Ethan and he spent his time at the tamer Swabbies Deck water area. There was not a single place you could go on this ship and not get wet!
Ethan "driving" in the Volvo Junior Driving School in Fun Town. I'm not sure he made it around the track once! He continuously needed help becoming unstuck from the side rails. Also, all drivers are supposed to go clockwise, but at one point he had the car turned around and was traveling in the opposite direction. We are not looking forward to him turning 16 after watching his driving skills!
There were some great Lego gift shops in the park! One shop had Legos by the pound - you pick up a bag and can scoop various specialty Legos into the bag. Olivia bought many Lego flowers this way!
Olivia's favorite ride was the Fairy Tale Brook in Duplo Village. Here is a scene from Sleeping Beauty. Other scenes included Aladdin, the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, etc.
The kids were done by the time we reached Dino Island, so we did not spend much time in this area. However, they did like looking at the hidden dinos throughout the area!
