San Diego: Zoo

On our third day in San Diego, we went to "The World Famous San Diego Zoo". Here are the kids just inside the entrance, pretending to be an elephant.

Ethan's favorite animal - the camel. He loves to spit like they do. Joe and I have long since regretted teaching him that bit of information about camels.

This was the most unusual story we heard about the zoo animals. There is a resident cheetah who is best friends with a golden retriever. They have been inseparable since birth, and are often spotted sleeping while snuggling together.

Close encounter with a hippo. While Olivia was not actually asleep, she was pretty tired! This was towards the end of our 5 hour zoo visit, and this zoo is especially hilly!

Both kids were excited about posing with the multiple animal statues around the zoo. Here is Ethan with a gorilla.

We ended our zoo trip with a quick trip on the Balboa Park (miniature) Railroad, located immediately outside the zoo entrance. We had intentions of exploring Balboa Park after the zoo, but decided that heading back to the hotel for some beach swimming was more appealing!
