San Diego: Sea World

On our second full day in San Diego, we spent 8 wonderful hours in Sea World. We thoroughly explored every inch of this park! It was certainly a highlight of our trip. Here are the kids just inside the entrance with Arthur C. Turtle. The kids were thrilled to see characters - a good prep for what was to come later in our vacation.

Olivia and Ethan with Shamu.

The kids with Shivers the Polar Bear.

Hello Beluga whale.

Sleeping polar bear and his reflection.

Notice Ethan's face - he wanted to be the "Penny" face but Olivia had rightfully claimed it as her own. It was a 5 minute tragedy.

We had great seats (outside of the "splash zone") at the Shamu Show Believe.

Pets Rule! show. This show was really cute for younger kids. We were all amazed by the cat that walked upside down across the tightrope!

Joe, Olivia, and Ethan inside the shark tunnel. This was a glass tube that you could walk through and watch sharks swim above/around you. Ethan was a little worried about this concept until he witnessed it.

Olivia and Ethan showing off their jaw span.

Joe and the kids feeding the seals and sea lions. Notice the bird by Olivia's head. You had to throw the fish very fast so the gulls did not grab it out of your hand!

The kids outside the Tide Pool area.

The tide pools allowed you to touch starfish and hunt for other sea creatures.

Ice cream Shamu eating Olivia's hand.

We saved the Sesame Street Bay of Play area for the end of the day. Here we are on Abby's Sea Star Spin. This area was a great way to end our day - the kids LOVED the rides, the characters and their show, and, most especially, the water play area.
