St. Patrick's Weekend in St. Louis

This past weekend we went to St. Louis for a family getaway. When we were not in the hotel pool, we watched the St. Louis St. Patrick's Day parade, went to Disney on Ice, and the Magic House.

Before the parade began, we walked along the route to witness the many other festivities (yes, there were a few things to do that didn't involve beer!). The kids spent a lot of time at the new City Park.

Imitating the Pinocchio statue.

Olivia tried for awhile to walk up this circle before declaring it "too wet" to be able to accomplish that feat.

As cold as the day was, I was very thankful that no one fell into this water maze!

The kids and I waiting for the parade to begin. During the parade the kids collected a bag full of green beads and Tootsie Rolls. One hour into the parade, the kids (and adults) had decided that we had had enough and walked back to the hotel to finish watching the parade from our room window. Luckily, the kids did not seem to notice the many examples of the negative side of St. Patrick's Day celebrating (all obviously involving too much beer!). That would have been difficult to explain!

The opening of Disney on Ice. I will admit that this show was excellent. I guess that it is a yearly event, and we plan to attend future performances! Almost all Disney and Pixar characters and movies were represented.

Some of the skating was excellent in the show, with the kids gasping at the spins and throws.

A Princess song.

The finale.

On Sunday we spent many many hours at the Magic House. How would you like to walk into a court room with these two presiding at judges?

Climbing to the second floor.

Olivia riding in Cinderella's carriage.

Olivia standing inside of a bubble in The Bubble Room.

Ethan needed some help with creating a bubble around himself.

This has always been a favorite of the kids.

Ethan's turn!

Olivia experimenting with air.

This was a fun family getaway prior to Joe and I enjoying some alone time in Hawaii! Look for the pictures in a future posting!
