Winter Fun

Time slows down a bit for us after the holiday season.  This gives a our family some time to relax and have some fun!  First up was a 1920's theme birthday party that Joe and I attended - it was a fun flashback to prohibition.

Winter this year was very unpredictable - unseasonably warm at times, cold and wet at other times.  Spring jackets in January led to snowpants in February.  During one of the warm spells, our family took a nice walk in Washington Park and fed the numerous geese and ducks.

Olivia's school volcano project - she had to research a volcano and then recreate it.

Ethan again participated in winter basketball.  He continues to show that he prefers defense in his sports - he improved in his rebounding and guarding through the season.

Six inches of snow means sledding on the Pasfield hill along with half of Springfield (the other half go to the Centennial hill).  It never amazes me that with all of the sledders on the hill, everyone seems to know the rules of where to slide, where to climb the hill, that the sledders have the right of way to the walkers, and to basically watch out!

Our traditional Valentine's Day dinner of build your own pizza and ice cream sundae is now going on ten years.  It started when Olivia was very little and Joe and I didn't want to leave her with a babysitter but we wanted to do something fun.  We go out on dinner dates so often that we now prefer to not compete with the Valentine's Day restaurant crowd!

A dusting of snow left just enough for a little snowman made with a neighbor friend.  I will miss the days when I no longer have a snowman in my yard.

Back to warm weather in time for both kids to get a superior in their piano contest - great job!

Olivia's first science fair.  Her experiment was testing the effect that baking powder and baking soda have on cupcakes.  We made 10 dozen cupcakes checking on no powder/soda, double powder/soda, normal powder/soda, etc.

Joe and I attended Joe's work party.

And Olivia attended several school dances after the holidays.  Her school seems to have a dance every other month!
